We must ensure that the standard of education across schools in Scarborough and Whitby is consistently good to give all students a chance to succeed. I will work with the council and local education providers to enable all our young people in towns and villages to get the best start in life.
I will work with local businesses and the new North Yorkshire Mayor to create more employment opportunities in Scarborough and Whitby so that young people who grow up here do not feel forced to leave the area to find jobs. We should be proud of Scarborough's heritage as England's first resort, I will work to broaden the opportunities for our tourist industry to make the Yorkshire coast the country's top destination for holidaymakers once again. We are uniquely placed to benefit from the Green Industrial Revolution and the building of the Hornsea Wind Farms off the Yorkshire coast has the potential to reinvigorate our ports.
