Securing the future of our local health services

Following the £47 million which the Government is spending on Scarborough Hospital's Urgent and Emergency Care Centre and the completion of the redevelopment of Whitby Hospital we must ensure that services remain in Scarborough and Whitby and that they are accessible to local people. I welcome the Government's commitment to open a new community diagnostic centre in Scarborough and will push to ensure we have equal access to services in Scarborough and Whitby as those that currently exist in York.

We need reform of the current system to incentivise doctors and dentists to work in coastal areas like ours where there is an acute shortage so that people can receive treatments and schedule appointments within a reasonable time.
